Power shortage due to high growth, says Patil

Power shortage due to high growth, says Patil

Maharashtra was supplying electricity for four states, due to a lack of planning and paying attention to Analysts they have used up to 9.5 per cent more electricity than in the year before. Now Maharashtra is buying electricity from 6 states to reach its demand.
This article shows the increase in demand for electricity in Maharashtra. A certain amount of electricity that was supposed to be used by 2020 but this amount had already been met by 2007. This lack of supply caused a gap in the electricity generation and consumption. The government decided that because not all people could have the amount of electricity they were used to, they had to receive electricity from four other countries to reach their demand. Because this still wasn't enough to supply the high demand of electricity the government had to select "deserving employees" to receive their regular demand, while regular citizens dealt with a smaller supply.
